| Do
I need a database driven web site? |
If you offer a lot of products, want to offer search facilities
or wish to amend stock prices, add new stock or delete stock items
yourself then generally the answer is yes.
If your product number is low or won't need regular amendments
to prices etc it may not need it however.
We will be able to offer advice and guidance regarding this, please
contact us for further information.

| How
will my e-store work? |
Your site is there to sell your products or services so the buying
process must be as pleasurable and easy as possible for the user.
Your customers must be able to find the products they want quickly
and efficiently and once they have found the products they want
the buying process must be as seamless and simple as possible for
them.
We will build you a full shopping cart system so your customers
can add and remove items from their virtual shopping trolley
quickly and easily. The user will always have the option of proceeding
to the checkout where they can finalise their order and make
their payment by debit or credit card via secure server.

| How
do I accept debit and credit card payments on the site? |
This may or may not be required, depending on your circumstances.
If you currently have a Merchant Account you may decide to
process the orders offline via your terminal (you should inform
your supplier that you are processing Internet orders).
Our systems generally collect the order information on your server
and then send the order details to a secure server for collection
of the card details. We never hold card details in an unsecure database
or on an unsecure server.
If you are considering taking credit card information from customers
you should register with The Data Protection Act.
If you need to process the orders in real time then you will need
to utilise the services of a specialist provider of these services,
we can provide further information about this on request.

| What's
the difference between UNIX & Windows hosting? |
There are many differences between UNIX and Windows hosting. The
main differences for the end user are the scripting languages and
database types supported.
Windows generally support Active Server Pages (ASP) as well as
Microsoft Access and SQL Server databases.
UNIX servers generally support PHP pages as well as MySQL and SQL
Server databases.
What the server actually supports will be down to the server set
up.
The StoreBuild.net preferred development platform is in a Windows
environment utilising Active Server Pages.

| How
do I promote my web site? |
This will depend on your marketing budget but a good deal of success
can be achieve by submitting to the search engines alone. Obviously
if the budget allows it would be beneficial to invest in other forms
of advertising and promotion as well.
As part of our service we will submit your site to the major search
engines as well as many of the lesser ones.
A number of search engines are now charging to review a site for
inclusion. Probably the biggest of them all, Yahoo! currently charges
£199 to review a site for inclusion in it's database. It should
be noted that payment of the fee does not guarantee inclusion and
is non-refundable, a listing in Yahoo! can bring a lot of traffic
however so it is generally a good idea to include this fee in the
overall budget.

| How
long will the development of my site take? |
This will come down to many factors including the size and complexity
of the site as well as factors out of our control, for example,
you will need to supply us with the necessary information to go
in the site. We may need you to supply product pictures and descriptions
etc. We can't do much without these so the quicker you can get us
all the required information the sooner the site can be completed.
Assuming that all information is supplied promptly, the site development
for smaller sites will usually take a minimum of 2 - 4 weeks and
longer for complex sites.
